Meet the Candidate
Lee Alexander was born in St. Petersburg, Florida and has lived in Citrus County full-time since 1988. He is married with four grown children and three grandchildren. Lee graduated high school in 1979 and less than one week later entered the United States Air Force where he served 9 ½ years as an Air Force Security Policeman. Upon leaving the service he moved permanently to Citrus County.
In 1989, Lee and a business partner started GoldShield Security Services, Inc which was a security and private investigation company. At the time, it was the largest locally owned security company in the county. In 1991, Lee sold his interest in the business and joined the Inverness Police Department in November of that year. He spent the next 12 ½ years serving the residents of the City of Inverness as a patrol officer, traffic enforcement officer, detective, Operations Lieutenant, and finally Chief of Police. In 1990 and 1994 Lee ran for a seat on the Board of County Commissioners. In April of 2004, the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office took over the law enforcement services in the city so Lee joined that agency as a major crimes detective. He served in that copacity until his retirement in June of 2011.
Lee’s commitment to service did not end at that time. In June of 2014, he went back to work for the Citrus County Sheriff’s Office (CCSO) as the Senior Affairs Coordinator. In this capacity Lee was responsible for managing the Seniors vs. Crime Office. In October 2017, he assumed new duties as the Senior Services Coordinator overseeing the CCSO Volunteer Program and other senior related programs. In January of 2020, Lee left the CCSO and moved back into the private sector.
